The Lion King is an American musical drama film directed and produced by Jon Favreau, with a screenplay written by Jeff Nathanson, and produced by Favreau’s Fairview Entertainment for Walt Disney Pictures.

The Lion King is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 19, 2019. It will be one of the first theatrical films to be released on Disney+ alongside Aladdin, Toy Story 4, Frozen 2, and Captain Marvel.

Plans for a remake of The Lion King were confirmed in September 2016 following the success of Disney’s The Jungle Book, also directed by Favreau.

Sort story is “After the murder of his father, a young lion prince flees his kingdom only to learn the true meaning of responsibility and bravery.”

Beginning on June 24, 2019, in its first 24 hours of pre-sales, The Lion King became the second-best pre-seller of 2019 on Fandango in that frame. Three weeks prior to its release, industry tracking projected the film would gross $150–170 million in its opening weekend.

Story / Premise

Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny on the plains of Africa. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival.

Scar, Mufasa’s brother and former heir to the throne have plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is soon ravaged with betrayal, tragedy, and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile.

Now, with help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba must figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
